When it comes to rumours they’ve all got to be taken with a dose of salt. The credibility (or lack thereof) of the source, the scope of the rumour, and whether it makes any sense at all, determines if the serving of salt is a pinch or an ocean’s worth. So when a rumour comes a knockin’ that says PSP owners can expect their own version of LittleBigPlanet on their handheld console, the salt-o-metre starts to go a little crazy.
Kotaku is reporting that, according to Electronic Gaming Monthly’s latest issue, LBP is being ported to the PSP. The reported line simply reads; “The LBP universe will also continue to evolve next year with the release of the PSP version: Q-Mann [Quartermann] hears it's fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 LBP experience.” The article provides no facts about the game and, needless to say, the PSP would have to miss out on some features through the porting process.
An interesting side note to the article is apparently Media Molecule is not involved with the port, which is not unheard of when it comes to the porting process. While it makes sense for Sony to release a watered down version of LittleBigPlanet on the PSP, it does seem bizarre that it wasn’t announced for the handheld console from the outset. Unless, of course, the Big in LittleBigPlanet refers to the PS3 and the Little refers to the PSP... ohhhh clever.
