Considering that 99.99% of applications don't require over 4GB, and that stability and overclocking ability is reduced with large amounts of RAM, I think it's safe to say that the only weakness is your lack of knowledge in the area of computer design.

It is irrelevant whether applications can use more than 4 gigs of ram yet. Your operating system (vista especially) still hogs a big portion of those 4 gigs, so if you want access to the entire amount of ram that any particular app can utilize you need more than that. Why cook your cpu and lower it's lifespan when you can build something faster out of the box?

GL on cleaning up your OS to the point where you MIGHT have 2.5/3 gigs available for your games once everything is loaded. To the typical person who runs windows with default settings, perhaps even less. Most people like having mp3 players/vent on while doing things on a pc.

And to people who actually use their PC's for something productive like graphics software, 4 gigs is sort of laughable these days. Not to mention their "best pc" has an analog HD in it. My joke was aimed at the title of the article, because something better can certainly be built.

Vista will use up most of any amount of RAM - it's called SuperFetch.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/superfetch.aspx

Vista caches programs into RAM, and the more RAM you have, them more it will use for SuperFetch. 4GB the standard these days. If you need more (which is unlikely unless you do intensive 3D modelling, or massive image editing), there's nothing stopping the customer from doing so. This is a gaming site, the computers were designed for that purpose.

Also, overclocking doesn't cook a thing - unless you're an utter fool who doesn't watch temperatures. Even then, the CPU will shut off if it's too hot.

Yeah, Intel prices went up recently. Possibly because of the drop of value in the Aussie dollar.
