STOP: It’s Hammer Time in The Old Republic
It seems like the news over the last few weeks has been centered around the same handful of games, with most of the year’s big releases (Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3… a lot of 3’s…) out of the way and only a few big names left on the menu. Luckily, some of the “big names” remaining are likely to give anything that came before a run for their money.
My money is particularly on Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (releasing later this week) and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Which is why I can say, with no little amount of rejoicing, that it’s a huge weight off of my shoulders that the NDA for The Old Republic lifted over the weekend – meaning that I can finally see if that one arrogant forum poster who says “I can prove you wrong but I’m not allowed to say it due to the Non-Disclosure Agreement” actually knows what the hell he is talking about.
My bet is on “no”.
So with Bioware’s banhammer safely back in it’s holster, feel free to head to YouTube or to the swtor forums and seek that one little gem of information that makes or breaks this game for you.
But before you do that, check out this Flashpoint trailer for Bringing Down the Hammer, a low to mid level group dungeon (around level 14-17 out of 50) which tasks you with destroying an old republic (pun unintended) base which had the power to throw meteors at planets.
So THAT’s where Vader got the idea…
Oh and since the NDA is lifted, I can also show you this 20 minute clip of a republic team (which is strangely lightsaber-less; made up of a Trooper tank, a Trooper healer and two Smugglers dealing damage) doing the very same instance as in the trailer!
Now we can put Bioware’s cinematic license to the test!
P.S: Judging by the voice in this video, girls play games now! Weird [/sarcasm]
