Kirby Air Riders is the 4,400-search-a-month Nintendo query that still behaves like a pre-order page. It is not. The game released Thursday 20 November 2025 on Nintendo Switch 2 only. If your cabinet is a PS5, a Series X, or a day-one Switch in a draw, this is coverage, not a shopping list.

Masahiro Sakurai directed it. Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd. built it. Nintendo publishes it. The copyright line on the Australian store is the honest one: © Nintendo / SORA © Nintendo / HAL Laboratory, Inc. The cover on this page is an original editorial card — pastel islands, empty air-lanes, no characters — because we do not have a licensed Kirby still and we will not scrape one.

No review score. The Kirby Air Riders hub holds the guide until a playthrough exists.

The platform sentence people keep retyping

Switch 2 exclusive. Not Switch 1. Not PlayStation. Not Xbox. Not Steam. Nintendo’s product pages are boring on purpose: nintendo.com/au and store.nintendo.com.au.

If a marketplace seller offers a “Switch OLED compatible” cart, they are selling you a different decade or a different game.

What the box is selling (not a verdict)

Nintendo’s own copy, compressed:

  • Air Ride — a race. Local and online fields; you pick a rider and a machine and the machine wants top speed unless you tell it otherwise.
  • City Trial — the GameCube memory. Up to 16 online or eight local wireless in Skyah, five minutes of pickups and field events, then a Stadium.
  • Boost Charge — brake and turn, then dump the gauge for a dash. That is the handling sentence.

Riders and machines are the roster Nintendo put on the back of the box. We are not going to recap them as if we had time-trialled the Warp Star.

Classification in Australia has sat at G / PG depending on the retailer feed (“mild fantasy themes, violence and online interactivity”). Check the classification marking on the listing you actually buy.

Australian prices

DoorSticker
Nintendo AU store / eShopA$109.95
JB Hi-Fi / Big W (recent physical)around A$99
Target (recent physical)as low as A$59
EB Gameshas run half-price banners on the $109.95 RRP — confirm stock

First-party Nintendo digital rarely blinks. Physical is how this country actually finishes a Switch 2 launch title. If you can wait for a catalogue weekend, wait.

Official doors:

Online play and Save Data Cloud want Nintendo Switch Online. Local wireless does not. That is a membership, sold separately, and it is not optional if your plan was “sixteen-player City Trial with people who are not on the couch.”

Storage: Nintendo’s tracker has sat near 22 GB. Leave a slice of the internal drive or a microSD Express card — Switch 2 will not take a regular microSD and pretend.
