NBA 2K26 is the search with the biggest Australian monthly volume in this batch — 9,900 lookups, most of them some flavour of how much and which edition. The game shipped in the first week of September 2025. Thirteen months later the useful page is a receipt, not a recap of the cover stars.

Visual Concepts developed it. 2K published it. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Angel Reese, and Carmelo Anthony were the marketing faces. That is the poster. This is the till.

GamePlayer does not have a 2K26 review score. Nobody on this desk is going to invent one from a trailer or a Steam tags page. Coverage lives on the NBA 2K26 hub.

The date

  • Worldwide / AU retail: Friday 5 September 2025
  • Steam: 4 September 2025
  • Early access: 30 August 2025 if you paid for Superstar or Leave No Doubt

If you are still waiting for a “launch window,” you missed it. The question is sale price versus edition bloat.

Platforms

PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Windows PC. Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

That is a wider cabinet than most 2025 tentpoles. It is also how 2K keeps a last-gen SKU in the EB cupboard next to the current-gen box. Read the spine. A PS4 copy is not a PS5 install. A Switch 1 cart is not the Switch 2 build 2K sold as feature-complete.

Cross-gen Xbox bundles exist in the usual 2K way: one purchase, two generations, same family. Do not assume that courtesy on every physical PlayStation SKU.

The edition ladder

2K’s own launch sheet for Australia (July 2025) is the cleanest snapshot of what they asked on day one. Steam AU in October 2026 is the cleanest snapshot of what they ask now.

Launch RRP (September 2025)

EditionLaunch AU priceWhat it added
StandardA$119.95 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, Switch 2; A$89.95 on SwitchThe game
SuperstarA$159.95 on PS5, Xbox Series, PC100,000 VC; MyCAREER boosts, cover-star jersey, 2XP; MyTEAM packs; 7-day early access
Leave No DoubtA$239.95 on PS5, Xbox Series, PC — sold through 7 September 2025Superstar extras plus more VC, Season 1 / summer Pro Passes, delayed MyTEAM cards, a MyCAREER jacket

Leave No Doubt was a window, not a lifestyle. If a marketplace listing still wants $240 for it in October 2026, you are buying leftover prestige, not a feature the Standard disc lacks.

Steam AU, 13 October 2026

EditionSteam AU
StandardA$99.95
SLAM EditionA$119.95
Superstar EditionA$159.95

SLAM is the mid bundle 2K added after launch. Read the live Steam card before you assume it matches last year’s Superstar stack.

Physical is its own economy. Price trackers have had PS4 Standard at EB around A$50 and PS5 copies in the $30–$50 band at Amazon, Target, and Mighty Ape. Those numbers move weekly. They are the reason you should not pay digital RRP for a sports annual in month thirteen unless you specifically want the current VC bundle.

Official storefronts:

VC, MyTEAM, and the honest warning

Superstar looks cheaper than it is if you were going to buy VC anyway. It looks expensive if you play MyNBA or Play Now and never touch the modes that sip the currency. 2K will not refund the difference because you discovered that in December.

Online modes want a 2K account. Age gates apply. We are not going to reprint a EULA.

Switch versus the living room

Buy Switch 2 if the portable is the point and you want the version 2K sold as current-gen. Buy last-gen Switch only if the A$89.95-class sticker (or whatever it is this week) is the whole argument and you already know the compromises.

The living-room default in this country is still PS5 or Series X, then whatever sale JB is running on the way out.

NBA 2K26 Australia: Editions, Price, Early Access, and Which SKU to Skip: quick answers

When did NBA 2K26 release in Australia?
Friday 5 September 2025 in Australian retail and on consoles (Steam dated 4 September). Superstar and Leave No Doubt unlocked a week early on 30 August 2025.
How much is NBA 2K26 in Australia right now?
Steam AU lists Standard at A$99.95, SLAM Edition at A$119.95, and Superstar at A$159.95 as of 13 October 2026. Physical PS4/PS5 copies at EB, Target, and Amazon have already been far cheaper than launch RRP — check the live sticker.
What is the difference between Standard, Superstar, and Leave No Doubt?
Standard is the game. Superstar adds a stack of VC, MyCAREER and MyTEAM extras, and seven-day early access. Leave No Doubt was a limited September 2025 bundle on top of Superstar (more VC, season passes, MyTEAM cards, a jacket). It is not a current SKU you should hunt at full price.
Is NBA 2K26 on Nintendo Switch 2?
Yes. 2K said the Switch 2 version has feature parity with other current-gen platforms. The last-gen Switch SKU launched cheaper (A$89.95 RRP) and is the compromised portable.
Does GamePlayer have an NBA 2K26 review?
No. This is an editions and price guide. A scored review waits for a GamePlayer playthrough.
