That is useful. It is also when group chats invent shortages that are really just a sold-out bundle SKU in one suburb.
This is a desk note, not a hardware review. For the Kart argument see Mario Kart World on Switch 2 in Australia. For the mountain, Jess already scored Ghost of Yotei.
Nintendo eShop AU and the cardboard version
Switch 2 stock at EB Games and JB Hi-Fi is no longer a photograph of an empty cage. It is still not "walk in at 4pm on a Saturday and take your pick of bundles." The pattern we are seeing this weekend:
- Standalone consoles sit longer than Kart bundles. If you already own Mario Kart World, do not let a bundle discount talk you into a second cart.
- eShop AU remains the polite full sticker. Sales happen. They are shy.
- Nintendo Switch Online is a second subscription if your house already pays for Plus or Game Pass. Local four-player does not care.
If the living room is still OLED or Lite, you are shopping for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, not World. Australian product pages still get that wrong in the comments. Our Switch 2 launch lineup is the older hardware picture; this is the September till.
PlayStation Store AU: out now versus November weather
PSN AU is a different mood. Ghost of Yotei has been out since October 2025 and is still a PS5-only game. Death Stranding 2 is the other first-party that actually exists. GTA 6 is Thursday 19 November 2026. That tile is a countdown, not a reason to skip the game you will finish this month.
Physical at EB/JB for Sony first-party is the usual Australian ritual: the box is often a download ritual with extra cardboard. Read the SKU. If you need the file tonight, PSN AU wins.
What not to do this weekend
Do not pay a Facebook markup for a Switch 2 because one store's website lagged. Do not pre-order a second GTA 6 deluxe because a storefront put it next to a sale. Do not assume Plus Extra or Game Pass will catch the November Rockstar launch — they will not.

Switch 2 and PS5 AU Storefronts: What the First Weekend of September Actually Looks Like: quick answers
- Is the Nintendo Switch 2 still hard to buy in Australia?
- Major chains are no longer treating it like a midnight rumour, but popular bundles still vanish on a Saturday. Independents in the capitals are calmer than launch week. Check EB Games, JB Hi-Fi, and the Nintendo AU store before you pay a markup Facebook listing.
- Should I buy Mario Kart World on eShop AU or in a box?
- eShop is instant and full sticker. Physical at EB or JB is the same band, sometimes less in a quiet catalogue week. World is Switch 2 only — Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the OLED / Lite game.
- What is actually worth buying on PSN AU right now?
- Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2 are out and reviewed. GTA 6 is a November calendar, not a September purchase. Do not let a pre-order tile talk you into a second deluxe you will not finish.
